Beginning my career as a professional photographer was easily one of my life’s biggest risks to date. Leaving a comfortable 9-to-5 office environment to start my own business gave me personal freedom, and it also quickly outlined all of the challenges of being a business owner. But after a short time in the business, I gained insight into the industry and was able to not only navigate through, but to flourish, making almost $300k in sales, annually, over my first three years.
But successes aren’t measured by money alone…after starting my company, I found myself dealing with various mental health issues including anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder, and I had to figure out how to deal with these ailments while still running a successful company and managing my clients. Over time, as I juggled my personal health and professional career, I realized that I couldn’t possibly be the only business owner working through these issues while trying to operate my business. And that’s when it hit me. Instead of keeping all of my experiences to myself, I needed to share them and help other business owners and creatives find that same success that I had achieved.
As I looked back at my journey from startup to success, I took a long, hard look at what resources I would have wanted as I got up and running and began to grow my business. And since then, I have worked to create a comprehensive platform for professionals that not only offers tools for business and creative growth, but also offers courses and webinars on mental health and wellness while growing one’s business. I know how the importance of maintaining a positive mindset plays into your work life, and integrating that idea into our platform and making it just as important as successful business tools shows that the balance is needed. And the resources and community are, too.
